Rules for Meetings

Unless specified otherwise, always use the MCh PowerPoint template for your scientific talks or work-related meetings both within and outside of MCh. When it is mandatory to discuss content of presentations with JMS, it is imperative to send JMS email at the very least 14 days prior to the planned event (talk or meeting, including conference talks), and put a printout with timestamp to JMS mail folder.

Scientific Talks

  • define goal of the talk
  • take into consideration the intended audience and define content accordingly
  • discuss goal and final content with JMS (and others to whom this applies)

Project Meetings

  • define goal of the talk (consider political components)
  • define the scientific goal
  • take into consideration the intended audience and define content accordingly
  • discuss goal(s) and final content with JMS

Wednesday (MCh) Meetings

Every Wednesday at 11:00 (unless specified otherwise), there is scheduled an MCh-internal meeting. The meeting is usually held in a mixed online/in-person format, and consists of two main parts - organizational (what needs to be addressed at the institute etc.) and scientific (a presentation of research work etc.).

The scientific talk should not exceed 15 minutes (ca. 15 slides), and it is expected to be followed by a discussion in a spirit of a standard conference talk. As it is an internal talk, always start with your RQs.

In-person attendance:

  • Seminar Room (room no. 02_220)

Online access via Zoom:

  • Meeting-ID: 231 486 496
  • Password: MCh2020

The detailed schedule including topics is continuously updated and currently send around to all staff members via the e-mail distribution list mch_info@lists.rwth-aachen.de by a person responsible for the meetings.

Responsibility Meetings

Responsibility meetings are more in detail described in the Responsibility List page together with the up-to-date responsibility lists.

Planning Meetings

More information on planning meetings are in the Research Planning page.

Meetings with JMS

  • define meeting objective
  • start with clearly establishing what RQ is being addressed
  • keep it short and sweet
  • inform JMS about all the cool things that have been done (understood, measured, calculated)
  • inform JMS about everything that causes frustration or impedes further progress
