General description

Barbecues

Barbecues are made mostly in the summertime (but not exclusively) and are organised by MCh staff spontaneously (look for announcements and lists on the kitchen table). They mostly take place on the rear parking space. Help for setting up the tables and banks is always required!

Christmas parties

Although there are no exact rules for Christmas parties at MCh, the following boundary conditions were applicable in the last years:

Planning meetings

These meetings are held usually twice a year, once in spring/summer, once in winter. Ph. D. students and Postdocs are expected to prepare a short presentation on their future scientific work and a time schedule that will be discussed in the group. Details on presentation time, templates to use etc. are given by jms in advance. Hiwis may give a presentation voluntarily.

Summer Planning Meeting

The summer meeting is often combined with an excursion, often to the RWTH Rursee Rowing Club House in the Eifel mountains. The excursion regularly contains water sports, beach volleyball and/or football games as well as a barbecue. Sleeping in tents as well as in the club house is possible. The planning meeting also takes place in the seminar room of the club house.

Winter Planning Meeting

The winter meeting usually is held in the MCh seminar room in the days before the Christmas party in the second week in December. In most cases, one day is reserved for Ph. D. student presentations, on the second day the Postdocs are presenting.
